I play the Luke Skywalker of Mark Hamill with his own alternate timeline. Mr. Hamill has made it very clear that he didn't agree with anything of his character arc in The Rise of Skywalker, and after much consideration I have to agree. Mr. Hamill says, "I love everyone's part except mine" and "I fundamentally disagree with virtually everything [they did] to my character." For such an epic, titular character, and out of respect for the humble and estimable actor, my characterization of Luke Skywalker is far different than in the last three films.

Therefore please consider my Luke Skywalker as an AU version. Here are the basics of how my Luke differs:

Movie Verse My AU Verse
Hermit for decades Took a few years to regroup and heal, uses Ahch-To as a safe base

Bitter and guilt-ridden Committed to writing wrongs (especially in regard to how he hurt Ben) and still full of hope

Doesn't give a shit if Rey ends up using her powers for good or bad and won't train her Fully accepts the possibility that not training Rey could lead to disaster and is willing to take her on as a Padawan

Doesn't seem to know or care that Leia and Han are in danger Would have come to Leia much sooner and was there to witness Han being killed

Dies alone on a mountaintop never living up to his final potential With a handful of secretly trained Jedi (Rey, Finn maybe? others he found in that 30 year gap?) he would have bought the Resistance time and distracted Kylo, not having to force-project himself to death, and so lived on to help Rey in The Rise of Skywalker.
